Our Law Clerks
Every year, we hire a few second- or third-year law students to work with us as law clerks part-time during the school year and up to full-time during breaks. They gain real-world experience providing valuable assistance with legal research projects and many other facets of preparing appellate briefs and other materials.
These are our current clerks.
Brianna Bellamy
Brianna is a second-year student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.

Before law school, she worked as a paralegal and administrator at a litigation firm in Springfield, Missouri, for several years.
​
Brianna grew up in Marshall, Missouri, and earned a bachelor of science degree in marketing management from Missouri State University in 2019.
James Deister
James is a third-year student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.
​
He previously interned with the Honorable Anthony Rex Gabbert at the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, as well as with the Circuit Court of Clay County, Missouri.
​
James grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and earned a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice, summa cum laude, from Rockhurst University in 2022.
Isabelle Watkins
Isabelle is a second-year student at the University of Kansas School of Law.
​​
She previously interned with the District Court of Johnson County, Kansas, as well as with the Pima County, Arizona, County Attorney’s office.
​​
Isabelle grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, and earned a bachelor of arts degree in law, summa cum laude and with departmental honors, from the University of Arizona in 2023.
